Disney World In One Day

Every one deserves at least one birthday at the most magical place in the world, so I spent all day Saturday celebrating my daughter's birthday at the Magic Kingdom.

The best part of Disney was everything! The worst part was I didn’t have time to see everything. We literally spent over 8 hours at the park. Most of our time was wasted standing in line for the rides. The next time I go to Disney World it won’t be on a Saturday. My daughter only cared about the castle. We saw the show in front of the castle with Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Tiana, Rapunzel, Anna, Elsa, and Olaf. My daughter was a little disappointed when she realized you couldn't go inside the castle, you can only walk through the back of the castle.

After the show we went on a few rides (Dumbo, Aladdin Magic Carpet, and the Tea Cups). I tried to ride Space Mountain, but the wait was over two hours (even after the nightly fireworks show when most people start to leave the park). I was so focused on the rides I forgot about meeting the princesses until my daughter spotted Jasmine when her photo/meeting session was over.

I was surprised at the many groups of people who were celebrating their bachelorette party (as indicated on their t-shirts).  I didn’t know going to Disney World with your bridal party was a thing.

This trip was also a trip down memory lane. About 13 years ago I worked at the Magic Kingdom with the Disney College Program at Cosmic Rays (restaurant in Tomorrow Land). I visited my old job to see if anything changed and everything was familiar, even the uniforms.

Food choices at Disney are mostly chicken fingers, burgers, and hot dogs. I saw a few brave people eating a hot dog topped with mac n cheese and bacon bits. Cosmic Rays has a Falafel burger for vegetarians. I’m not sure if the other restaurants in the park have a vegetarian/vegan option.  Disney World allows you to bring outside drinks and snacks. I had one small bottle of water in my bag. I wish I would’ve brought more because a bottle of water in the parks costs about 3 dollars. Overall, Disney was fun and I can’t wait to go back again.
