Girl's Trip NYC

My friends Kalesha and Ashley thought it would be a good idea to take a girls trip to NYC in the middle of winter. We would only be in New York for the weekend so I thought we could make this fun and maybe catch a little snow. Living in South Florida I sometimes miss winter. We arrived in NY on a Friday; after we got settled in the hotel we decided we should go out to get something to eat. Kalesha and Ashley suggested we eat at an Italian restaurant called Barilla (just like the pasta). The food wasn't bad, but we definitely needed a second dinner afterwards.
Everything was pasta

After we ate we decided to explore the city. Thank goodness Kalesha brought gloves for us because I was freezing. We ended up walking around Time Square. For some reason we were trying to find Zara (the store) and got lost. Google maps failed us many times when trying to walk these New York streets. By the time we found Zara it was about to close; we ended up finding the smallest target I’ve ever seen and bought snacks for the hotel room. We caught an uber back to hotel and called it night.
I don't remember how we got here

Saturday
We woke up early and bought tickets for Black Panther. The movie time was 10:30am, this was probably the only show that wasn’t sold out. After the movie we did some more walking and took pictures.

Saturday night was the real reason for our winter girl's trip to New York. We had tickets to see The Read podcast live at the Apollo Theater and we got to experience snow in New York. The show was great, but those seats at the Apollo are not comfortable. There was absolutely no leg room.

Sunday
Sunday was Brooklyn Day!

BIG POPPA

We started the day with brunch at Woodlands. Now, I did not know brunch meant day party. The line was out the door before 12pm. I thought day parties started around 2pm, I guess not in Brooklyn. Everyone was dressed to impressed early. The food and music were good, but it was overly crowded.

I met up with my friend Tamika and she showed us around her city. We started in Fort Greene at Spike Lee’s office. We got on the train to Bed-Stuy to check out Juices For Life (Angela Yee’s juice bar). We walked through Dumbo (I see why Jay-Z was mad) and ended our Brooklyn Day under the Brooklyn Bridge.

Monday
We all had to say farewell to NY on Monday and become re-acclimated to reality (aka work on Tuesday). On Friday we almost froze walking around Manhattan at night looking for Zara when there was a Zara right behind our hotel! We still never made it to Zara. Overall, New York was amazing and I would love to come back when the weather is warm.

Money Tip- Even though New York is a walking friendly city, we spent a lot of money on transportation (uber, cabs, metro card). You will definitely need to have a transportation budget.
